Hey,
I just got a sony PVM-8020 monitor that didn't come with the batteries, got it from ebay, lol. I believe it takes the NP-1 type batteries. Anyone know where to pick them up for a good price? Thanks!

You can get NP-1 styled batteries from B&H and several other places. You have three choices of battery chemistry available to you:
1. NiCad - (Nickel Cadmium) cheapest, develops memory easily, need to be completely drained before recharge, short life in monitors
2. NiMH - (Nickel Metal Hydride) more expensive than NiCad, doesn't develop memory (as easily), can be placed on charger even if only partially drained, short life in monitors
3. Li-ion - (Lithium Ion) most expensive, no memory, can be charged at any time, charge lasts longer than other battery types

Having said all that, I'd kick the NP-1s to the curb and go with a battery belt or shoulder pack.

Look on the back of your monitor for a 4-pin XLR-type of jack that's marked for 12v DC input. If you have one, then you can use a battery belt or pack.

I use a battery belt to power my PVM-9L3 when I'm in the field. I love it, lasts me all day on a single charge.

What connections do you use to be able to use your belt. I have2 belts and that would be a great use. Thanks Terry & TC.
