Your help is appreciated. Unfortunately I don't get to spend much time on 3D animation due to my other obligations. I do browse the forum though

I know. I've been away for a couple years. Trying to get back into it but don't put in the hours that I used to. I understand.
I would like to know what people are doing now. I know Josh is doing very well. Some others have moved on, the economy bottomed out and...

I'm really attempting to get a few (one at least) very short animation projects (toon style) under my belt. I haven't completed one yet so that's a huge thorn in my side.
I'm no longer trying to compete with anyone in style or quality. Now I'm trying to complete one given my limited abilities.
And this is only a hobby for me so I have no future expectations on the outcome. -I hope to hear from people.

It is nice to have someone to share the frustrations with sometimes of trying to be a one man band. -Beers

This is mostly a live action, film-video forum. For CG, most software packages have their own, dedicated forums; Lightwave, Houdini, ElectricImage, etc.

Pulling out my old dvxfest leader -GoldDvx- and adding a new material under new render software.
I made an ooops on the orginal but it was still very popular.
I think I can render a better version now. Only the materials and rendering will be replaced. Using the same model and animations as before.
Whooo. Always wanted to revamp this one. I'll open a new thread when it's done.

From my previous understanding is 3dsmax is primarily used for modelling characters for gaming and Maya is most often used for film primarily because maya is, to me, more flexible to customize, but with that it becomes more technically complex including writing your own code.
And that does not include necessarily rendering within Maya.

I know Josh that used to hang around here is/was rendering his 3D animations composited into real video using AE for post rendering. And it does look good. So, whatever works. And he's doing it for a living so...-:)
