when to buy?

Hello.

I'm going to buy a sennheiser evolution g2 kit and the the zoom H2 recorder. Is there a year by year updates to this kind of things? I know NAB is comming up soon so I wonder if they will come up with a new version of this two products and in that case I will wait.

I have a friend's wedding april 11, but will take this info into consideration before I buy what.

Just curious to learn a bit more about that.

One more thing.

If I buy a Lav mic..let's say the countryman B6.....could I use it wireless with my Sen g2 as well as wired with my zoom H2 or does it have to be one or the other?

Please ignore all of this if you believe it to be stupid. But I appreciate any help.

Thanks to all of you for your time.

Peace.

Osmany

you will need buy b-6 for h-2 recorder ( probably direct connection with tip and ring shorted ) and inter connector for g-2 which need zenner diode be involved
by the way - why b-6 there are better sounding mics and better exterior behaivier ones ( sucks heavy in light wind situation)

Buy it when you need it. I don't subscribe to the wait and see philosophy, as the show could come and go and you'd be sidelined waiting.

I think you can get the B6 with the Senn connector to be used wirelessly and a breakaway for hardwired (XLR) use. I've seen this discussed in another forum. I think the same can be done for the Sanken, which is the other highly regarded lav.

You'll want to purchase from an audio shop, not a big box store, as the box stores will not know what you are taliking about; it is a custom modification. Try Trew audio or Gotham Sound......both places have their own people who can wire-up whatever you want.

As Bobonli said, buy it when you need it. Technology is always changing, when something new is released something else is already being developed. If you need something for April then pick up the best thing you can thats out in March.

If you only need this for the wedding in April consider just renting it.

Bob

that is not the case here
he doesnt need phantom conveter but match the mic for 2 differnt impedance input with differnt bias suplyies
aboyt lavaliers - sorry nothing cange for yers and francly i dont see anything will for good only for worse as everyone like it cheap :-)

something about countryman , since carl died ( the owner ) i dont know who is unswering these "stupid " questions anymore but if they still do it , ask countryman directly if they could do these interconnectors for you or give staright unswer how to make them , then ask proper audio shop which carry these to make one in that way .
you can find the countryma site on the net

Thanks for your help guys. I was just wondering if there was something like computers, where is known that a new generation is comming out and people wait for that release. Like NAB for example.

This will be my first sound purchase, besides my shotgun mic. So, I'm new at this. I was just hoping to use an external mic with the zoom h2 or r-09 and I din't know if Lav were able to be used wired and wireless by just getting the right connector just to avoid having to buy two. It looks like is not possible, right?

Oleg 2 ..is there a lav you recommend for me? I was also looking at Sanken cos-11...looks good..$400 thou...any other ideas?

thanks a lot. I take any suggestion.
Thanks
osmany
