1. What age did you start making films?
2. how many films have you made since you have started?

for me...
1. I started around 15/16
2. 4 actual films, others were just goof arounds (17 now, so hopefully I'll be making more soon ;D )

Re: when did you start?

man, LloydC, youre still a pup. Thats good that youre starting filmmaking at that age. You should consider yourself lucky. Back in my days we didn't have feet. :)

I was 12 when I started. I shot my first film on paper and rocks. :)

Re: when did you start?

1.24/25
2.1 film, 1 festival trailer, 1 for real video, a few other video type things, and a shite load of tests.

Re: when did you start?

1.started when i was 18. 26 now.
2.no real film yet- but working on one now. and a whole lotta freelance stuff that wouldn't really count in this discussion.

Re: when did you start?

Started at 15. I'm 19 now.

9 to date... first BIG short (with real actors, budget, etc.) starting in 3 weeks, and the pressure is starting to hit!

Nahh...Bailing wire and a sling shot ;D

Re: when did you start?

Good luck with that TC!

my first BIGshort (actual budget and 2 theatre actors) fell through because of poor planning... things got delayed to around 2 weeks, and many people (myself included) had to go to school far away :(   got some great experience and knowledge- like... actors you don't know really take risks as that was going to be only my third short film I've ever made ;D

learn from my mistakes hehe

Re: when did you start?

;D Bluespider, your funny. So we all agree LloydC will make all the mistakes for us, and we'll just observe and take notes. Come on, take one for the team, LloydC!

Re: when did you start?

yeah, take one for the team, TC did, plently of times. ;D

Re: when did you start?

TC's cool. Ohh I forgot.
Age 14 - made stupid homevideos with my brother (Miami Vice inspired).
Age 22 - worked at a TV station in Austin.
Age 26 - opened production company and made 1 feature length mockumentary and 3-4 short films.
Age 26 1/2 - closed previously mentioned production company.  :'( Promised NEVER to do video again!
Age 29 - moved to Seattle and did advertising/design for Microsoft.
Age 32 - moved to Thailand, to get away from Microsoft, and find inner peace ;)
Two months ago - bought a DVX100 and shot video for the first time in over 7 years. It felt goooooooood, but looked baaaaaaaaaaad.

That's more than what you wanted to know. But I'm bored on Sunday afternoon.

Re: when did you start?

i'll remember to post em all on here...
I might have to charge some $$ for every mistake... eventually... when I need that extra buck for a freakin DVX... yes I don't have one :(

that's a mistake in itself I guess
start sending in the checks!

PK - What are some details on the mockumentary? I dig your humor and would like to see this :D

Re: when did you start?

Age 14 - Super 8 Chinon

Make war films and indy films and skate films

Somewhere between 19 and 32 dream about it, read about it and work as P.A, and Grip on lo/no's and buy a Bolex 16mm only to Discover I'll never afford the film nor the processing.  Say **** it and join the USCG.

32 - Hear about XL1 and the Frame Mode; see 28 Days Later and shite myself.

33 - Hear about the DVX100 and the miracle of "24p".  Restart the dream machine.

Here I am  :-/

Re: when did you start?

Thanks :D Dakotapod, I always enjoy reading your posts. You've got a great sense of humor. Everyone on this site is so great. I sometimes feel like I'm the outsider, the man in the corner, trying to juggle to get peoples attention.

The mockumentary was about, well, ...it was about squirrels. Wait, don't judge it yet. It starts off as a serious nature documentary (asking people about squirrels and their experiences (real people), and then, after 5 minutes or so, we come across a man (actor) who has an incredible story about a squirrel. He accidentally witnessed a squirrel kill a man and has footage of it. From there we uncover numerous other unexplained deaths. One death involved the drummer of a band called, Sex Machine, who got killed (drowned) by a squirrel (inspired by Spinal Tap). It escalates into a media frenzy and a possible government conspiracy theory (not very original, I know). It sounds cheesy, but the performances were believeable (mostly improv), the music score was done by a friend who has been #1 on the New Age charts, and the videography was top notch (done by my friend). It premiered at a theater in Austin, back in 1997, and has a small cult following of mainly friends and family. ;)

Hey, some people start off in porn, some start off making cheesy documentaries in an attempt to be funny. Now that you know my checkered past, am I still allowed to be a member?

Re: when did you start?

I would LOVE to see your squirrel movie someday, PK.

I started making movies in my head when I was about 10 years old. Unfortunately, actual moving pictures had not been invented yet. :)

Nah, I didnt hold a camera in my hands until I was about 35 yrs old. Never edited anything until 2 years ago. Now, this stuff is my life, however filled with potholes and blunders it may be.
