when caputring video freezes and drive is full

Hello,
When I use final cut pro my video start to freeze when I try to capture en then I have to reboot my computer and then my hard drive is totally full. As full as my drive can be.
I tried another deck, same problem.
Does this has to do with dropped frames? Somebody recognizes this?

Are you doing a capture now? If so try to log and do batch capturing instead or at least reduce the amount of capture.
By default it allocates 30 minutes or more of drive space.

Thanks but I tried batch capture and problem remains, but I find out that after 5 minuter or so it freezes, whether I "batch capture" or "capture now". I checked the system. It fast enough and I have space enough. It also says that the error a dropped frame is. But every time I capture the same piece of video the dropped frame appears somewhere else. So it is not the tape.
I checked other forums. More people has this problem but I haven't found out the right solution fo this strange problem.
Please help me out here if possible, thanks

Try this:
Go to User Preferences- uncheck (report dropped frames during playback)...(Abort capture on dropped frames)

Thanks but that I allready figured that out. The problem is that is doesn't abort, but the capture freezes after a couple of minutes (7 minutes approx.) and you can not do anything anymore in fcp.

Yes, if you're using FCP or any high level software turn Norton off and remove.

Thanks very much but I don't have Norton and I changed the firewire cables and tried internal harddrive to capture on. Nothing. But I tried capturing via GCAM a capture tool that I downloaded from versiontracker. It needs less ram and it works great I experienced. Ok I didn't solve the real problem, but I can work now and that is most important having a deadline.
Thanks anyway. If there more tips let me know.

By the way could "limewire" be High level software Scottdvx100? What else could that software be?

Anything that requires high performance may be affected by Norton, especially for reading and writing files.

Ok I understand, but I don't have norton. Is any other program affect FCP.

Start up Activity Monitor (utilities folder) and check to see if there's something chewing up a lot of CPU usage.
