Wheels for a tripod

Maybe this is a home depot item - but is there an easy way to attach wheels to a tripod? Ill be shooting on smooth wooden floors this saturday so wheels would be awesome. THoughts?

I was thinking the same thing, but Bogen manfrotto make 3" wheels that attach to the bottom of tripods. A guy in a thread I posted said that he had them and that it was bumpy and wobbly. Sorry I couldn't help, but I was looking at glideshot.com. they ahve one for $180.

What you are looking for are studio style- spreaders (I think they are called Pedestals (either column or tripod style)). They are made not for dolly moves but to quickly move camera's around studio floors for new angles and setups.

If you're floors are very smooth these might work, but I would always recommend a dolly for dolly moves.

Nice. Its a dance studio with polished super smooth floors so this should work fine.

It doesn't work fine even on super smooth floors. Ask me how I know. Get a dolly.

The purpose of the wheels is to move the camera around for different setups, not shoot with it.

Yes, I own a set of Bogen spreaders. They are utterly useless to me.

I dont get how it could be so crappy?

I used a wheeled tripod back in film school (on a carpet floor) and the shot came out great.

I dont want to use a dolly since it is just me filming. plus i dont have one. And it would be a PITA to use

This is for an EPK by the way where I am filming live performances (inside) and doing interviews.

spreaders work ok on smooth floors but what i noticed is that since all 3 wheels are free-rotating, it's hard to have the camera follow your desired path. also, if the floors have any imperfections at all, you'll see them in your footage ... works alright for a really cheap solution on very smooth floors though
