What's up with this?

I'm attempting to use this small samsung mini dv camcorder to upload footage onto the computer. Buuuut when I take this tape that I shot on the dvx100b and play it on the other camera, it makes this crazy static sound and theres like 4 thick horizontal white bars running across the screen. I'm thinking maybe the samsung is too old and not compatable with footage shot on a dvx but I'm not sure. Anyone know anything? Thanks

Guess:
Samsung cam is old, and by now the heads are out of whack; DVX is new: they both play/record fine by themselves, but are incompatible together.

Lots of cameras have problems playing back footage from other cameras. It's not uncommon.
For instance I can't play my XL1 footage in my little JVC. Best to stick with the same brands if possible.

And if you use LP mode, the compatibility situation is even worse; most camera manuals even state that if you shoot in LP mode, the tape is only guaranteed to play back on the same camera that shot it; LP mode tapes from one camera may very well not play in any other camera or deck.
