What's this technique called and how do you do it?

Hey,

So a friend of mine was super excited today as her fav band the Yeah Yeah Yeah's have announced some London shows. I rewatched my old fav vid of theirs (mostly for the ace solo).

I remember there was a common technique in the video but I've never read how to make it so I was wondering if anyone could tell me how please:

It's the strobe like effect at 1.38 where the original imprint remains as the person moves through the frame.

Can anyone enlighten me please.

Cheers!

It used to be done with a series of still photos assembled together, but now a days it probably is from after effects. Motion Trails must be close.

The with out after effects I would say you could do it the hard way and just make a bunch of tracks with your fottage duplicated but offset a few frames maybe lower each layyer opacity by a few %. Then just change your transfer mode.

Looks like the key is to fix what object you want to move and move just that, then track that so it appears to remain stationary, everything else moves ergo.
