What's this shot called?

I've been seeing a lot shots framed at the waist/elbow in discussions...where u'd normally have an over the shoulder. The camera is placed at a one persons elbow/waist, framing the other person's head (head room) while they speak. Sometimes its paired with an over the shoulder or not. What's that shot called? Under the shoulder? :D Hipshot...waistshot? (wish I had a screen grab).

Technically the entire category, which includes the over the shoulder within it are know as reverse shots. They are either internal or external reverses. If the shot frames to include an area outside of the shared space between actors its an external reverse. If it frames to include only the area inside of the shared space, then its an internal reverse.

OTS, (over the shoulder), is just such a common shot type it got its own name, but is still an external reverse. The shot you describe is just one of many, which since you see the both actors is also an external reverse. It doesn't matter if its from the waist level or not.
