What's this little piece called?

I recently acquired a Dana dolly and absolutely love it, but I cannot use the support bracket because my tripod ball head/screw sticks down so far it just hits the support beam while traveling.

What's the name of this very short tightening screw that goes under the ball head as seen here?

Many thanks!

I dont know what it is called but you need to find the thread on your head, you may then be able to buy a handwheel of some nature for McMaster or your local equivilent.

To get maximium skinniness I ended up making one on my lathe!

Anyone know the thread on sachler/miller?

On some low end heads it is M10 - but that is not correcto for decent heads.

It's called a Tie-Down.

On a side note... If you are getting flex in your speedrail on longer lengths requiring a center support, you might consider using schedule 80 speedrail with double the wall thickness of schedule 40 aluminum. Unless you are using a very heavy rig, you can then remove the center support.

It's 3/8" on my Miller DS-10.

That's odd that they don't include shorty knobs as the mid-span support is useless without it.

Yep, Dana 'highly recommends' schedule 80 for the rails. I'm building a Dana clone now and I am going with schedule 80. One less thing to deal with during setup.
