What's the very best way/work flow for coloring and converting to 16:9 from DVX100?

Hi,

Been searching for this for a while found a few good answers but not sure which is the very best way to color and convert to 16:9 the footage from my DVX100 using After Effects.

My work flow was:

- I shot in cropped mode (I think this is what it's called but it's 4:3 masked to 16:9)
- Import using Premiere CS3
- Edit using Premiere CS3
- Past edit into After Effects CS4 (I switched up during the editing)
- Use Color Space HDTV
- Work in 16bit Colour
- Colored each clip with an adjustment layer
- Interperate Footage as Pal Widescreen (I'm in the UK)
- Took off lower field in Interperate Footage
- Transform each clip to be 133% higher
- Export using Loseloss AVI at 16bit colour
- Import in Encore
- Burn as DVD

The Problems:

1. It takes ages to convert all the clips to the fit my widescreen comp
2. It look very pixelated and has a lot of noise (pulsating black and color from frame to frame)
3. When it's on the TV it's much too bright even though I'm using the HDTV colour space to edit it

Is my work flow right? Is there a better way of doing it?? What do other people use.

Other ideas:

I've hear people talking about Magic Bullet as a way to smoothly make this 16:9 SD and possibly HD.

Any opinions on this and how to do it would be much greatly appreciated.

Many, many thanks

B

Magic Bullet is for color correction (to get specific moods that look more "filmic"), so unless your specific problem is that your shot doesn't look enough like the Matrix, or Minority Report, or doesn't have the correct dream like haze, than it is not going to solve your problems.

What does your footage look like before you burn it to DVD in encore? That will help to determine where your problems lie.

It looks a little bleached out on the computer monitor, but on my SD TV connected by firewire it looks about right.
