What's the secret??

**WARNING**
This post is just general belly aching. You probably have better things to do than read this.
:)

Damn - does anyone know the secret code to actually get someone at B&H to talk to you about a bid? Isn't there something I can hit on my phone, like getting extra lives on Contra :)

Up, Up, Down, Down, B, A, B,A, Select.

I've been on the phone for the past 30 minutes....and that's just this call.
I called back after being transfered 4 times....and finally hung up on.

:)
Not my day.
I'm just surprised ... it's not usually like this.

Funny thing is I just need them to resend the bid they already did with one small change...the president of the TV station I'm working with is actually breathing down my neck to get the bid so he can finally send them a check.

I feel like I'm fighting the company to be able to buy something from them.
It's getting ridiculous. Actually, in the time it took me to type this I was transfered twice more.

Thanks.
I'll try that!

By the way - get this - My cordless phone starting beeping because the battery was too low....that's how long I've been holding.

Been transferred another 3 times since my original post and eventually got randomly
sent to a general voice mail box...

So now I'm on my 3rd call.
Everyone who answers the phone keeps telling me "Oh, you need the Bid Department"
Then say that's where they're transferring me....
Inevitably the next person who answers the phone says the same thing.
Apparently no one knows where the 'Bid Department" is.

EVS baby

EVS

Trust me, I ordered everything I absolutely could from Rush - and it couldn't have gone smoother. He's AWESOME to work with.

But EVS didn't carry everything I needed - so I had to get some of it from B&H.

Luis, that's the wrong code, buddy. It's

Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, B, A, Start.

Common mistake.

DAMN - I knew that too. :) Just got distracted from being on hold.

Well, my saga finally ended - at about 3:10pm.
I was on the phone for over an hour just to get a hold of the right person.
In the end, I never did get a hold of the right person...but some guy in the Government Contract department did what I needed, took him all of 10 seconds.

You know what's really sad?
I always try to be a patient guy... I know it's not the fault of whoever happened to answer the phone...so I don't get angry with them.

But I finally cracked this time.... and as soon as I did, and I got angry, then I got helped right away and the problem was resolved in under a couple of minutes.

I hate getting angry with people...sad that that's the only way to get some people's attention.

The codes are:
left left right right= invisable
down down down down = gives you patience to sit down
right right left left = boy you better get someone on the phone before I take my earing off
and left right left left right up down up up down down hip thrust left = Berzerk

Thanks John, Zack, Luis. :)

By the way, it's not a key combination, you have to download a cheat from PCmodder.com, install the patch, then run the cheat mod.

I was at B&H this week and it's a nut house in there. They (employees) really don't want to be there and that's exactly how most of them behave towards the customers.

Last year I ordered a viewfinder as a gift for Steven's birthday, and when I gave the shipping address, the guy says, "Oh, Pine Lake Films?" I say, "No. It's a gift for Pine Lake Films." So I hear the guy typing into his computer instructions to send the confirmation Email to me and not Steven. Next morning bright and early, Steven reads his Email from B&H saying they've just shipped his order. Grrrrrr.....

That said, we went to the store last time we were in NYC, 2002, I think, and I have to say they were very helpful. At least that's my recollection. Steven's may be different. They were so helpful, in fact, I got really, really bored and sat down in the waiting area by the checkout while Steven acted like a kid in a candy store. He found lots to buy, so I'm not going back there again. :(

I WISH they'd been so helpful to me yesterday.
I was up pretty late last night scrambling to get some work done due to the hours I lost being on the phone.

:undecided

I really feel bad for giving the last guy who answered the phone such a hard time...
After being transferred so many times I finally cracked....and when the last guy answered and said "Hold on while I get you an agent" I immediately responded with -

"No. Do not transfer me. I want you to sit there for one minute and listen to what I have to say" I then calmly explained what had happened over the past 4 calls I'd made.
I explained that all I needed was to get in touch with someone who could revise a quote they had given me, and that I worked for a company that was waiting to send them a check, and the only thing that was standing in the way of them getting a check was their own inability to connect me with the right person. I told him that the TV station I work for has about 15 different stations and they are planning on updating their equipment in all 15 stations over the next year or so, and that whether or not B&H got that business all depended on what he did next.
I told him if he didn't connect me directly with someone that could help me that I was going to cancel the entire order, and I would make sure that the company never ordered anything from them again.

What do you know?
Suddenly I got connected to someone who knew what they were doing and was able to help me out, and send me the proper quote so we could send them a check!

I had a similar experience with the phone company recently... after getting the run around about a bill which they miscalculated (that's a whole OTHER story) I finally lost my cool. Once I got angry, the customer service rep transferred me to a supervisor who fixed the problem.

Why is it that sometimes getting angry is the only thing that gets people to pay attention? I really had being the "angry guy" on the phone. I mean sure, the problem finally got rectified...but it just made me feel like a worse person for it.

Oh well, it's over now.
