What's the inner diameter of a grip head?

I'm working on something DIY and don't have one handy right now. I tried looking on B&H but they have 2-1/2" ones and 4-1/2" ones. What's the diff?
 
Not sure what you mean by what's the difference.

The smaller ones are made for baby spuds and are the ubiquitous jobs used on every C-stand and for most utility purposes holding lights, flags, etc. The larger ones typically have junior spuds and are atop heavier stands such as combos of various kinds and are used to support heavier hardware such as menace arms and overhead frames.

So, based on this[/FONT][FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif], I'm guessing the 4-1/2" one fits on the 1-1/8" diameter Junior spud and [/FONT][FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif] the 2-1/2" fits on 5/8" ?
