What's the deal with microX?

So, what's the deal with microX? Did anyone try this with other adapters? It's been out for a considerable amount of time and nobody ever mentions it. Also, is this for M2 owners only? I went to the redrock website and I was trying to order one of these but it kept asking for my M2 serial number.

I was under the impression that you could order one if you are not an M2 owner, but it costs $100 more. That's what it says in the RR forums anyway - you should email Brian or Andrew Lee if you can't order it.

I got my microX but have been on vacation and then slammed at work so I haven't done any proper testing. I built the camera once with it and it worked great. Extra light loss was noticeable, but not too bad. Less than 1/2 stop for sure. Edge to edge was great, but then I never really had an edge to edge problem with the unflipped M2.

I would be happy to try it out with other adapters if anyone in the NYC area wants to set up a test. Would also be interested to try other flips on the M2 to see the results.

yeah, I want to know the updates too.

I read from another person somewhere that said that the edge to edge sharpness is gone with the MicroX.
so is that true ???
that would be great!!

I think you mean that the edge to edge sharpness ISSUE is gone :) Like I said, I never had a problem with it before, but I have also read the same reports that you have seen. The microX kit comes with a new hard mount kit and a new achromat, and I think these + the extra distance from camera lens to M2 contribute a great deal to the better edge to edge sharpness.

Maybe Brian can chime in with more specific information on why, but I certainly haven't seen anyone refute the claim that the sharpness is better now.

very curious myself...I tried to start a thread a little earlier but it was like a ghost town....tumble weeds and all(: My question is how well does it perform with other adapters, aka the brevis in my case. the price point and quality look really good on the microX.
