What's the connector called on my 416T?

Hi folks,

Please can someone name this connector on the very end of my 416T:

As you can see, it looks a bit like an XLR connector but it's a little smaller and uses a screw-on sleve to lock into place.

I think I need to make a new cable for my 416T.

Thanks,
Jack

Yes, that's a Tuchel connector. It was used in Europe for a long time, particularly on microphones. It follows the DIN norm, which for 3-pin connectors is the middle pin is always the ground. You can see the other numbers on the side.

Practicality and sturdiness made the Tuchel be superseded by the XLR or other connectors. The Nagra 4 was the last recorder that still brought several Tuchel interfaces, but not for the mics.

Sennheiser should sell you the part to replace the Tuchel for a XLR-male.

no need change the connector, you just can add very short barrel adapter on the back of the mic so it will be xlr( add 5 cm) , sow like these in the past so probably still do exist

ooh, a tuchel-to-xlr adapter sounds like what I need. Any clues as to where I might be able to pick one up in the UK?

Thanks load for all your help,
Jack
