What's the cheapest/earliest version of Vegas taht will edit 24PA footage?

One of the 4.0 updates; b, I think. It was one of the very earliest NLEs to offer 24p support, and still, IMO, did it the best way - comprehensively.

(Technically, though, any NLE which supports DV can edit 24pA footage, just not as 24p. :) But in that case, you'd want to shoot 24p standard anyway.)

Don't think it's going to be the cheapest but it is the earliest. Good luck finding it since it's almost 5 versions ago.

Even Vegas movie studio (platinum I think) will be a more robust program than Vegas 4 was. Lots of upgrades even at the consumer level since then.

Thank you. So anything over 4.0b and I'm good to go.

What about the movie studio platinum? Does it also allow me to edit in 24P?

You can set up a 24p timeline manually with VMS, but it will not remove pulldown. You'd need other software for that. Better just to go with full-blown Vegas.
