I'm just starting out, I have a music video as my first job. What is the best way to get Insurance? Is the best 1 million dollar umbrella plan? What is the best company to have a plan with? Thanks!

Another option would be to consider joining the Fractured Atlas group and getting a commercial liability policy through them; I think they quoted somewhere around $425/year for it, but you'd have to check.

Wow good hook up Barry. There general info on filmmaking insurance said:

"Policies for film projects with budgets under $100,000 have been about $425 for liability coverage alone. Equipment coverage tends to cost anywhere from $350-950 (assuming equipment valued between $10K and $100K). Negative/video loss coverage is typically $800-900. Errors and omissions coverage is usually between $2,500 and $2,800 for productions with budgets under $250K. Workers' comp varies based on the number of employees and size of payroll, but small outfits can usually be insured for as little as $400."
