What's the best strobe lighting for under $500?

I'm looking to buy a kit but I've never used any strobes before so I want to know anyone who personally used strobes for photography. Which brand or one do you recommend?

hmm not sure if theyre under 500... but alien bees are nice. used them a few times before when assisting with photoshoots

Thanks rafiki...too long to spell. I was hoping for a decent kit for under 500. At least 3 lights.

You might have to go with H285's if you want multi lights for that cheap. No one makes monoblock that I would recommend for 3 lights under $500.

I shot with some Alien Bees recently and boy I am gonna order my own this week! Love those lights!!!
