I'm using an HVX200 in conjunction with a Firestore. The content I shoot is web-based. For now, I'm filming 480i/24pa. Right now, I'm recording to the FireStore with native .MXF files. I copy the CONTENTS and LASTCLIP files to a folder on my hard drive. In FCP I drag that folder into my Log and Transfer window and begin logging into the cue. Those files are then saves as .MOVs in my capture scratch.
Is this the ideal workflow? Should I simply be recording QuickTime files directly on the FireStore instead? Please advise.
Since I'm asking here's another question. I'd like to have better control of how files are recorded to the Firestore. I've been trying to get individual clip derived from footage shot between pressing the REC button to records and then to stop; however, even if I stop the FireStore for several minutes it will write the new shot into the last shot and appear in the Log and Transer as one big Spanned Clip.
Also, I'm constantly recording to miniDV, as a backup, when using the FireStore. I might do a shoot and go through 3-4 tapes. How can I tell the FireStore a new tape has been inserted so I can give the files their proper Reel Name in Log and Transfer.
Finally, why is the color so drab in Log and Transfer (and the LCD for that matter) compared to after it's transfered. It's like it goes through a magical color correction.
Thanks in advance!
