What's FCP doing to my P2 footage?

Hi guys,

So Ive noticed that when I go to colour my P2 footage in AE the histograms are vastly different between native MXF files and the quicktime versions of those files that FCP makes using the log and transfer import.

Here is a raw MXF clip (00093X.MXF) with the top levels effect output white set to 90%. You can see on the 2nd levels effect how the over brights have been recovered.

Here is the same file but the FCP quicktime version (located in the scratch disc folder) made with the log and transfer function (00093X.mov). Notice how the over brights are just flat lined and cant be recovered.

The after effects project is the default project only switched to 32bit. No colour profile or viewing LUT is applied.

The FCP project is the 720p 25fps DVCPROHD preset.

Thanks for your help!
