hey all, i'm new 2 this forum,

can someone recommend 2 me a good shotgun mic thats $500 or less for my dvx100?

also, i need help finding a add-on light to my dvx100, i need to shoot some stuff at night clubs 'n stuff, and wanted to know which specific model i should get.

any 'n all help is appreciated, :)
 
The best advice you will find is located through the Search function at the top of the page. Not many people will answer as this has been covered very, very, very, very extensively.
 
i need it 4 both indoor/outdoor shooting

upclose interviews, on the street interviews, etc

night clubs, etc,

The AT 897 sounds pretty darn good for aprox 250.00. I think Rush at EVS has a good deal on these.
 
As others have mentioned, this has been a very popular topic for a long time. You would get more information using the search function (or the handy links that Yankee has so thoughtfully provided) than you would waiting for replies.

I can tell you offhand what you are going to most likely find out; If your shotgun budget is $500.00 dollars, you are going to be urged to bump that up a little to the $549.00 AT 4073a. Of course, I agree. It's a fantastic mic.

However, if you need a mic for interiors AND exteriors...you are looking for two different mics. You do not want to use a shotgun for any type of interiors. The pick-up pattern is all wrong. So, you might want to bust up your $500.00 bucks and go with a slightly lesser shotgun in the Rode NTG-2 or AT 897 (in that order) and for interiors Octava MK-012 with a hyper cap. For $500.00 bucks, this set up will serve you VERY well!
