Markertek has great prices on cable and connectors (canare starquad, neutrik) if you want to put your own together. If you price it out I think you'll see you could save alot of money.
I'd try www.trewaudio.com and get the Remote Audio cables... which are all made with Neutrik connectors and Canare StarQuad cable. You may find a way to pay more but they don't make any better cables then that... and they'll last you a lifetime unless you cut or damage them somehow.
Yes, Horizon cables from Guitar Center (or equivalent music store) suck. Totally suck.
I usually buy everything sound from Skylor at Trew Audio but it's tough to beat haveinc's bottom dollar on cables. Warning though: They normally fabricate large custom orders and there is a fair amount of rigamaroo to deal with, such as requesting a quote first, sending a purchase order, facilitating payment, wait time for assembly, and you really need to give them part numbers for the cable and connectors and have your ducks in a row before calling them, but given that you're okay with this, they will rock your world.
Trew Audio is awesome at meeting deadlines and shipping quick. I love buying from them.
"thisiswells" - thanks for the tip on HaveInc. - Their prices are pretty good.
1- HAVEFLEX STARQUAD B/G XLRM-XLRF 25' BLA $26.49
2- HAVEFLEX STARQUAD B/G XLRM-XLRF 50' BLA $41.39
I think i"ll go ahead and order 2 25ft, and 1 50ft cable. I do mostly interviews, and documentarries...can't see needing more than this. Is this what everyone else pretty much gets (in terms of length)?
p.s. I'm dealing with "Trish" at HaveInc 800-999-4283 X236...very helpful!
(If you do call...tell her I sent ya!)
