whats a good bag for the dvx100?

the vanguard one you find on ebay all the time, its about 50 bucks maby 65 with shipping. It works really well with my dcr vx 2100 and my friends dvx100. it has a customizable inside so it works with almost all cameras.

i'm specifically looking 2 purchase this one: Porta Brace DVO-2U

but i want 2 hear from others if they have any feedback on this particular case or any other model

let me guys!

I picked up a Pelican 1620 case. It is great! It's big(but not too big) has plenty of room for my mattebox and follow focus, filters, batteries, tapes, and more. It's also very durable and protects your camera very well, which is most important of all. The only downside is the price, they are around $300.

I have the DV organizer that you're talking about and I love it. You can carry pretty much everything in it and the DVX fits perfectly inside the cradle. It is really big, so don't expect to use it as a carry-on bag.

Pelican is best, when I get pissed its the only thing I can throw around and wont break. You can pick up the 1610 for about $150.

If you dont have many accessories, then the 1550 is good (and its carry on size). It will hold the cam, a mic, about 3 big batts, and about 5 tapes (thats what I could fit in there). About $100 on ebay.

You break it, they fix it for LIFE. They are worth the price!

You said " It will hold the cam, a mic, about 3 big batts, and about 5 tapes". Which way did you put the camera in. On its side or straight down in the case?

I've got a small KATA bag that fits the camera, my wide angle lense, a few 72mm filters, several batteries, lens cleaning kit, extra tapes, and powersupply. It's a light traveling bag, great for on the go. Not super sturdy for dropping from elevated hights, backing up over in your truck, etc., but great for my purposes.

Hey Envision, which KATA do you use? I picked up their big backpack and it's a BIG backpack! Too big for the run-and-gun style I like.

yea, I have the same bag. I think when I got mine it might have been called the CC101 though. I agree that it's great for travelling. I have carried mine on several times without a problem, and it can hold enough to get you by. It's also pretty bomb proof, as far as the construction goes. Mine has been in some nice dusty/gritty environments, and hasn't worn out yet.

The one caveat I have with PortaBrace, told to me by a PortaBrace dealer, is that thieves know what's inside them. I saw the model you mentioned and thought it was kind of flimsy. Nice material, just not much protection. I'm going to NYC in a week and will check out B&H's selection. I'd like to find something moderate-sized that can work as a backpack or a side bag. Run and gun is what I'm about. But I see the value in a Pelican for general storage and travel.

i have the portabrace dvo-2u bag and think it is great. very roomy, stiff and tough - rigid material (covered in fabric, portabrace fashion.) i think you'll be VERY happy with it - i am. room for a camera with matte box and follow focus (all attched) to sit in the cradle, and still plenty of pockets for other stuff.

I have Kata CCC-2003 and it's good for when you need to carry your cam around, light yet quite sturdy. Fits my DVX, a couple of batteries, charger, filters, lens cleaning solution and tapes no problem.

I bought the Petrol Bag - I think it was the NDB-1 or something. Its really nice. The inside is lined with a soft felt (sturdy though), so its very kind to your gear. There's also plenty of room for all of your extra stuff- batteries, matt box and filters, tapes, etcc..

Highly recommend the brand.

I own 4 of these...cheap and rugged. I use 2 for DVX100's, 1 for a Sony Z1U and one for 2 Canon 20d digital stills. Put some padding inside as need...plenty of room inside.

I personally have two Pelican cases. You can't go wrong there. However, Overlandfilms always recommends the HARDIGG brand. I have to tell you, I'm pretty much sold on them myself. Next hard case I get, it will be HARDIGG. I just gotta check 'em out.

But, if you strictly want soft...you don't want to mess around with a no-name brand. This is your gear were talking. Spend a little and get Petrol, Kata or Cinebag. Cinebag looks like the absolute BEST soft bag solution, hands down. http://www.dvxuser.com/V3/showthread.php?t=19508&highlight=cinebags

i use a tamrac expedition 8, things huge, holds aloottt of stuff, and its deep so you dont worry about squishing things like mic's and anything fragile....

i rock the lowepro nature trekker for now, i'm waiting on some ty evan's ogio bags at the moment to try those guys out.
