What would you charge?

WOW! Can i be like you when I grow up ? If i told somebody $1k/min right now I don't know if I could stop from giggling:cheesy:

The first step is to believe in yourself then.

Well if you start at $1000 per finished minute make sure you give them a break down on the charges and then it wont feel so high especially when you see what you are really doing on paper. A project plan works wonders and will also save you time in the long run. Always pad the schedule a little to compensate for little snafus like you get to a location and their electrical outlets keep blowing out from your lights meaning you are going to need to relocate or your car gets a flat and they only had an hour that day to see you but they can see you next week.
You can start like this:

Camera and operator: $1000 per day even if its not a full day or do a half day rate.
If they ask why so high you can say well just to rent the camera costs X amount from a rental and you need someone that knows how to operate it the "right" way. Plus you can say you are throwing the lights in free of charge.

Editing: $100-200 per hour some might charge extra just to dump the footage.
Could go higher too.
Travel Costs: Gas, Toll reciepts.

Graphics/Title design: $100 per hour *not included in the editing*

Sound design: $100-$200 per hour or the cost from a website. You have to have good music in there.

This I think is a good starting point for you if you want and by the time you finish it will probably average out to the $1000 per finished minute.

or... you can just think about how much you want in your pocket no matter how much work it is. Like I want that shiney new HVX, It costs $6000-9000 so thats what im going to charge. You still should break that down for them to justify the cost which should be easy. If they are really going to ask other true video companies you will still probably be the lower of the bids.

Another thing...
If its a decent sized company this shouldnt be a problem, if its the PTA or the local day camp then you will probably have to see what thier budget is and work from there.

A lot of work and pressure seems to be involved and it sounds like you are doing this on your own. Minimum 4500, but I would aim for at least 5000-9000.

Yeah it's going to be a lot of work because i'm doing it myself. The organization is also a NPO. The only revenue they bring in is from member fees which isn't that much. They are working on Fund Raisers and such. But i'm confident that i'll get the best price that I can.
