What would make a great studio co-op?

I'm looking into setting up a co-op in the Atlanta area to provide studio and office facilities. The co-op would have two membership levels. Members in the first level would provide start-up funding and have their own private offices and preferred facility access. Members in the second level would have access to meeting rooms and other facilities. Facilities would include studio and editing room(s).

That's the basic concept. What would it take to make this a great co-op?

Somebody to be interested in it, apparently. :-)

Seriously, I think a co-op could be a good idea. Filmmakers banding together and pooling their resources. It sounds like you're mainly planning to provide office space, is that right?

Most indie productions don't need office space as much as they need access to a sound stage and production equipment -- camera, lights, sound, etc. I'd like to see a co-op where the members' fees go to buy camera, sound and lighting gear which would be available to the members to use on their productions. I'd also like to see the fees go to leasing a space for a soundstage. This stuff could be used by members for little or no cost, and could be rented out to non-members.

It's been awhile since you posted this. Have you made any progress on your co-op?
