What wireless transmission will be affected?

As many of us use the popular G2 series transmitters, how will the take over of the 700MHz block "C" band affect us and lavs in general.
I don't know the technical in's and out's of this. I just know that my units purchased 2 years ago work great.
Will I still be able to use them in North America?

I already live in a high density area and the downtown core has a block out reserved for the major broadcasters of sporting venues.

One weakness of the G2 body pack system is it's non diversity. I find only a few channels that are exceptionally good and fail safe. 518.150, and 520.950MHz are my two rock solid channels that seem to work every where, even a hundred feet away. Will these remain unaffected out of the proposed band?

The only frequencies that are going away are 698MHz and up (through 806MHz, IIRC), so if you're using a Block "A" unit (which it seems that you are given the frequencies you describe using), that will be fine to use in the US. (Honestly, I don't even know if Canada is going to have the same issues...)

Whether or not the channels you mention are going to remain unaffected is harder to say, as there is now going to be some reshuffling of frequencies to fit the same number of broadcast channels into less spectrum (and some possible reshuffling of channel assignments). So you might find that those specific frequencies might have something on them, but other frequencies might then be free and work for you.

Well, at least until the "white space" devices get up and running...

Remember that we're in Canada and what happens in the States doesn't necessarily directly affect us. AFAIK the CRTC hasn't announced any similar spectrum changes to those coming south of the border. Of course, only time will tell.
