What to wear...

I know this is a chick question but I have an interview for film school next week and I'm wondering how formal I have to be. Its an art school not a business school.... Any suggestions?

I'd skip the formal gown, and either go with Khakis and a polo shirt, or shirt and tie... depends on what they expect you to wear. I went to a small college that required guys to wear a shirt and tie, gals "business casual"... which was never really defined.

Don't listen to him... too cold up North to wear a speedo this time of year. You'll freeze your nuggets off kid.

Can't go wrong with the classics...

I'd go with a polo and some dress slacks. Well, technically I wouldn't, but I would recommend that. I just wear a T-shirt and jeans to everything. Only job interview I ever got turned down for was the one I wore a dress shirt to...

School's obviously different than a job interview, but I think being nicely dressed without being formal (id est, polo and dress slacks) is a good way to show that you're serious, but not overdoing it due to a lack of confidence.

(...though, honestly that double-knit polyester suit from the ad is making me start to rethink my interview attire...)

Ok some good ideas here. I am glad no one recommended a suit I think that would be a negative at an art school... Fashion police thank you.

Agreed. It all depends on what makes you feel good and confident. These days, I'd go with a cool button-down shirt (no tie) and khakis (pick your color). It's respectful, but not stuffy.
