i'm planning a trip to the smokies in october and need help deciding how to shoot with my dvx100a for what i want to output to.

i definetly want 24p and 16:9.

i'll be outputing to dvd, vhs, and the program will air on pbs.

i want it to be able to be viewed as 16:19 on 16:9 sets and 4:3 (letterbox, i guess) on 4:3 sets.

how do i shoot it? what's the defference between shooting squeeze or letterbox. also, if my final output isn't for a film transfer, i don't shoot in 24pa, right?

also, how do i caputure it in fcp?

thanks for your help...new at this.

if this has already been covered, sorry for the redundancy -- please direct me to the link.

thanks vidlid,

i work for pbs so i know what their guidlines are. i'm just new to this camera and need some specific input as to shooting with this particular camera to get what i want to achieve, which is the capability to display good 16:9 and 4:3 with the same aquisition.

In that case shoot 4:3, which you can crop in post to make 16:9. Gives you both options.
Also, I'd would consider shooting 60i.
