i like apple... clever, yet cloaked in the mysterious "did he really name his dog after a fruit? or is he so trendy and film savy that my simple existance as a typical human can't fathom it's true cinematic meaning?" thing. I like it.
It's a girls name and an important camera reference. Ok, so what did you decide? And is there a photo of this puppy? I like how you described the dog as a "new puppy." Be grateful you didn't get one of the old puppies. ;D

Well, if you want to be a director then "Cut".
You are out at the dog park yelling "Come Cut! Come Cut!"... Make sure to film the other dog owners looks.
I love many of the responses, I'm trying to convince the family to go with Ana, but just in case a picture would help here's a couple - at the edit desk no less.
Terry, she's not a Brittany, they have longer coats, She has a really short coat. The lady we got her from said she was an English Pointer, and I believe it based on comparing her to pictures on dogbreedinfo.com. I used to have a St. Germain Pointer, very similar but with a longer snout and orange on white markings. Good dogs, sometimes active, but I have space for the dog to run, outdoors.

Ahh, you mean "Production Assistant."
Huge thanks to everyone who contributed, I sincerely appreciate your name ideas. They sparked quite a bit of debate around the household. But in the end we took a vote and the winning name is "Emmy".
Now, if I only had the time to produce a documentary about teaching her to hunt.
Now that the discussion is over, I can weigh in with a digression and hijack the thread ;D.
I used to have a dog as a kid, and I love dogs. However, I lack the discipline to train them (hell, I haven't even trained myself to stay away from politics! ), so I haven't had one as adult, and I don't know much about the different breeds and stuff.
Just wanted everyone know that I really enjoyed reading this thread, and felt a real sense of family - perhaps more than other threads. Dogs are man's best friends... For some strange reason, this whole thread felt very warm and human.
