What to expect from a TV Special

I have been asked to be a part of Production of a Television special. My experience is not with tv but with dvd production. My role would basically be that of a producer, planning, hiring, etc. Does anyone know what cable networks usually pay for specials? Thanks for any info.

Where are you located (country)?
What network is it?
Is it a local or national?
What's the length?
Is it already tentatively slotted, if so when?
Do you have a relationship with this network?
If you do have a relationship with them, does it involve past production experience?
Is it niche or generalized content?
If it is niche, do you have specific experience in that area that is rare or noteworthy?
Are you going to be able to hire a proper production manager?

I could go on, but that should get you started.

US
Discovery
National
60min
Not slotted yet
Introductory relationship
no past experience
This would be a magic special similar to David Blaine, so very documentary style
Yes, I have specific experience
I possibly would hire, but due to the fact that it is more of a documentary which I have experience managing, I may do it myself.
