Hey all!
What do the rest of you do with technologically out of date gear that is perfectly fine? I'm really stuck for an answer. I don't want to just trash it as it is fine condition but these things simply are not used much anymore (I think) I want to upgrade from my existing camcorders, so I should sell them, but I get no bites on craigslist.
I have a jvc hd100 camera and a Panny DVX100.

Any ideas?

Thanks

If you can't sell them and just want to clear them off the shelves, please consider donating to a local school.

Donating as Greg Mentioned! Also, have you considered they might find a place in one of your future shoots as a prop?

If it's not moving, your asking to much. The market will determine the price. See the problem is people can't let go of the price they paid (not saying this is you) but I see it all the time, and have been guilty of it myself on occasion. Lots of threads read like this. Used hvx200, pd 5,400 asking 3,400. When in all actuality, the market is only bring in 2,300.

There's been times where I waited to long to sell, the cam becomes valued so low, I find it not worth selling. But I'm the type that likes to break out old cams like the hv30 and a dof adapter just to see if I can make it look comperable to some of the newer ones. I guess I like to challange myself for the fun of it. Not to mention, I find with proper lighting some of the firt gen HD cams still produce beautiful images even in todays market, you just have to work a little harder to get it to that point.

I'm just keeping all my stuff until one of my daughters wants to make a totally retro HDV film in college. "Wasn't interlace flicker, aliasing, and jello-vision just the coolest?"

Oh man, I waited to long to sell my JVC HD100 too. Capable of a great image and can't beat the ergonomics... I've even got the deck!
