what to charge for starting up

I have been doing videography for a good 8 years now but never realy advertised. I am working on my website now and Im trying to figure out what to charge. I am known locally but I want to be known more. I dont know if I should keep my usual rates or go cheeper to attract people. What do you guys charge?

rates vary with market, experience, gear, ect. You should be able to get out and bill an easy 500 dollar day rate to get started. Whatever to choose for your rate, don't vary it to get in the door with the intentions of raising it back later. Youcan cut em a deal on turn-key projects or even shave some hours if they need a buddy deal but keep that rate eteched in stone.

Well, how are you considered "starting up" if you've done it for 8 years? Despite your business possibly being new, you have the experience to charge what you want...or the market can bear.
