What the hell's going on here?

I've got one tape that I logged in, the tape properties read "720 x 480", but the tape is squished in my windows to a 16:9 aspect ratio. (people are short and fat, black bars on top and bottom)

My capture settings are regular dv ntsc, and this is the second time I've logged the tape in. Same thing.

I open the tape in cinema tools, and it shows the correct aspect ratio. I open it in regular quicktime or FCP, and it's squished??

All the other tapes logged in just fine (4:3), and I've never seen this happen before.

How do I fix it? it's driving me crazy.

p.s. When it's logging, it shows the tape correctly in my camera, and in the capture window.

Try option+mouse on your sequence bin.
Make sure that you have 720 x 480. Hope it helps.

Eh... I found a work around. Just opened it in QT, and exported (uncompressed) at the correct dimensions and it worked fine.

Still a very strange problem that I've never seen before.

two things... make sure the "anamorphic" column is unchecks in your bin. or, load the clip in your source monitor, click the motion tab, and make sure the distort setting is set to '0', not 33.33 (or -33.33). if you have more than one clip, use the 'paste attributes' function to fix the rest.
