Published on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 AICNWill Smith wants to whistle in a remake of BRIDGE OVER THE RIVER KWAI - well, the idea sure blows!

Hey folk, Harry here with another just really really awful idea. I mean, just terrible. Remaking David Lean. There should be a rule about that. Can we just pass a resolution banning remakes of David Lean's BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI, LAWRENCE OF ARABIA and DR ZHIVAGO. There needs to be a list of like 50 films that should be protected from film poaching. Right?

Hey Guys,

Thought you'd be interested to know that according to EMPIRE magazine (this month's issue - May), WILL SMITH has expressed interest in remaking BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI.

Yes, that's the classic 1957 Sir Alec Guinness movie - - - with The Fresh Prince.

I do hope he only wants to produce.

Man, can you imagine how awesome that would be? Wait, not awesome, the other thing... shitty.

i do like the idea of creating a sort of classic movie preserve that its gaurded by the government.

i wonder if movie rentals or sales increased at all of the original the manchurian candidate around the time the new one came out.

The only thing we need now is Wil Smith in a Gladiator-type movie, Wil Smith playing Richard Nixon, Wil Smith playing Bruce Lee in a remake of one of movies, Wil Smith playing Powder in the Powder sequel, Wil Smith as the new Wonder Woman, Wil Smith as a live action Papa Smurf, and Wil Smith as the new Fonz. . . you know, roles EVERYBODY totally sees Wil Smith in. :thumbdown

I'll take FULL credit for calling Hollywood out in *Many* of my other posts!!

They have simply ran out of good ideas. So now it's time to remake every horror, comedy, drama, (insert genre here) film you can think of in order to make a buck. It really is sad.

The academy needs to go ahead make a new category:

*BEST ADAPTATION OF AN ORIGINAL MOVIE*

There would be lots of competition for the 06' Oscars wouldn't there?

In the words of the great *PAUL MOONEY*.....I think the next big controversial film should be:

"The last nigga' on earth" - Starring Tom Hanks.

That is from a hilarious skit on Chapelle's show called *Ask a Black Dude* with Paul Mooney.

PS - OH...and don't forget Will Smith as an action hero that says witty *one-liners* and does all sorts of cliche' stuff like: Walking away from explosions in Slow-Mo, Saying a cheap one-liner before "knocking someone out / killing an alien", etc!! That's the kind of roles I'd like to see Will Smith play......oh....wait.....!!

You just ruined my day.

Bridge on the River Kwai is in my top 5 all time films. Simply amazing.

What director would mess with this?

How about a movie where Wil Smith is moving in something really fast, like a say a plane or futuristic car and he let's out that "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!", while the camera spins upside down to help sell Mr. Smith's royal Shakespearian talent. (Damn, is that prerequisite of every Wil Smith movie?)

Seriously, I hope this article turns out to be a fraud.

I still have no idea how Ain't It Cool News is considered a bonafied news agency.
What a joke. I mean, have you read this guy's reviews on movies?

i actually really enjoy his reviews, mostly because their just him talking about the movie. It gives me a great idea of what the movie will be like, unlike most film critics that are full of themselves and use big words to express how every movie they see sucks. Harry knowles just rocks, he's a dude you just want to talk about movies with.

Damn. Reading that makes me want to remake The Fresh Prince of Belair with carrot top. Hope it's not true.(
