ive come upon some serious $ lately. im stuck in a confusing situation. i want to get the dvx100a and start shooting, but i will need something to edit on. so, this is my problem. which should i choose? dvx or 15" powerbook? i can not use my pc, b/c it will cost me alot to upgrade, and etc.., so i am considering the powerbook. help!!!!!!

It depends on how much you have to spend. Just enough for one or the other, or what? And what's the pc you have now?
 
Give the money to me so I can finance my next project (an educational video for the schools of Thailand). Come on you rich Americans! Share the wealth! :)

I'd say get a Dell PC. You can get a VERY powerful computer for less than $1000. A powerbook will run you more than that!

I say go for the DVX. They have some insane rebates and other promotions going on right now, at least I think they are still going on.....I would say get the DVX first.....I mean, shooting always comes before editing in the process anyways......
 
Wait, was your question to get a DVX or a Powerbook? I thought you were deciding between a PC and Powerbook. ...What good is a Powerbook to edit with if you don't have a camera? I'm confused. Why not get a used DVX100 ($2000) and with the money you save get a Powerbook or whatever computer you want. That's your solution. You can have your cake and eat it too!

Get the DVX.. shoot weddings, birthday videos, parties, graduations, more weddings and other stuff and buy a power book later.. You can't make money editing without a camera. That's how I got my first edit suite!
 
also, a powerbook is very nice, but you shouldn't look at one unless you need mobility. You can find a used dual G4 for close to half the price of a powerbook and it will be about twice as powerful.
 
thanks all. sorry took me so long to reply. yea, i think im gonna go ahead and purchase the dvx. i will just shoot shoot shoot!
