I'm doing it over the net with a user here on these forums. It only has about 60 hours use on the head and is apparently in immaculate condition. It's coming with all the manuals, accessories, etc.
I used Escrow.com for the secure transaction. I purchased the camera for $2,300.
Reason I ask is I have 1 day to inspect the item before I close on it. I just want to know what to look for being I have limited time to inspect it.
Well, Id personally peruse the manual literally STEP BY STEP and PAGE by PAGE and personally REVIEW every single function listed. This will take time, but well worth it.
It should be all good.
After that step, Id shoot some foootage and attempt to capture.
Yes, as John advised, simply put the camera through its paces. Ensure that every function works. Here are some suggestions:
- Download the manual from Panasonic ahead of time and read it so you can spend that entire day with tests instead of reading
- Check the hours and ensure it is 60 hours as stated.
- Check that each accessory is included
- Reset the camera to its default settings. It will be easier from there to troubleshoot image problems especially if you and the seller's opinions differ on what looks good
- Visually inspect the lens, LCD, and viewfinder for scratches, inactive pixels on the LCD, etc
- Ask the seller what tapes he used then decide if you are going to stick with the same brand or not; otherwise, you should probably run the tape cleaner (follow instructions on the tape cleaner)
- Make sure the battery works along with AC power
- Place the camera on a tripod and verify the tripod plate under the camera holds
