What should be a standard DVD Architect question

Okay, I would expect this to be just a basic DVD Architect Menu type of thing but I've spent a lot of time trying to figure this out and I just can't, so I'm hoping someone can help me.

Can I pull video into an existing button?

Every tutorial I see always says to create your actual "Play video" buttons, you drag and drop that actual rendered file onto the DVD Menu first and then adjust how you want the button to look from there.

But is there a way you can just create the button first, for example, I have a button that says "PLAY VIDEO" I have it the size & font and everything else I want. All I have to do now is link it to that video. Can I? Or is the only option to pull the video in and start from scratch there.

Really seems like this should be a very basic deal but I just can't figure it out. Sorry if I'm missing something very simple and basic here, but I am not finding it.
 
Not sure if this covers the point you are making but if you place Markers (press M on keyboard) in your project timeline in Vegas thses will come through as chapter points when you drag the rendered project (i.e. the full project) into DVDA. You are then given the option to choose the style and number of buttons you want and can also retitle (highlight and press F2) if you wish. All your chapters will already be in place in the project and you can choose which one you want to go to from the DVDA menu.

By the way, the first button on the main screen is "Play All" and the second is "Scene Selection" which takes you to the full menu - and the first button in the scene selection menu is also "Play All."

Thanks Richard, that will likely come in handy.

However, what I'm doing is designing the DVD Menu BEFORE the video is even complete. So once the video is complete, I would like to just link it to the button that I already created. If I drag and drop, it creates a new button altogether.

Surely this is a way to link an existing "Broken Link" button to a new video...isn't there?
 
Here's how to do it:
You can design the menu, then when you add media to the project, you add it to the disc, not the menu. (just drag and drop to the CD icon of the hierarchy). Then, you can go into the button properties and link it to the video.
