I made this mistake before, where it took me 2 weeks to capture my footage only to find out i used the wrong settings in FCP. Can someone please tell me how i should properly capture footage i've shot with my DVX100? I'm shot everything at 24P Advanced. I'm working on a documentary and i'm not sure if it's going to go to film as of yet but i wanted to keep my options open just in case.

Thanks for your input,
Rob

Sooo... If I'm aiming for the look of film when going to tape, DVD or web... I should use:

- Shoot 24p (Scene File F5 default) on DVX-100a
- Direct import to 29.97 sequence in FCP

Would that be the standard DV-NTSC set-up?
- Sequence Preset: DV NTSC 48 kHz
- Capture Preset: DV NTSC 48 kHz
- Video Playback: Apple Firewire NTSC (720x480)

or should I alter one or more of these presets?

Also, I see 24pA mentioned in the FAQ above... Don't really understand the difference yet since I just got the camera, but more detail on both ends would be great.

Scott's post above was already helpful.

THANKS!!

Noah, someone recently told me that I would get better image quality if I captured 8 bit uncompressed. Is there any truth to this?

Matt

I think Noah probably meant you can't capture uncompressed if shot with DV- unless you shot uncompressed to begin with... which I have no idea how it's done or can be done without additional hardware like the andromeda hardware they advertise on the other forum.
