What roles do you take on in your productions? Do you prefer to write, direct, shoot, produce, edit... or some combination of these? If you had the budget to hire people, which positions would you fill and which would you keep for yourself. In other words, where do you prefer to focus your energy?

I prefer producing and directing the most, although I will rarely do both simultaneously. I will hire people for as much of everything else as budget allows. I love editing too, but others are faster and more efficient than me so I don't do much editing anymore.

So, what roles do you take on in your productions?

If I had a real budget in my hands, I would only write and direct (maybe do some producing duties). But if I was to shoot something with the funds that I have now, I would have to write, direct, produce, DP, edit. Well, acting would be the only things that I wouldn't do.
I'm curious. Have you done any of these on a feature length production?

Directing, producing and DPing are by far my favorites, though there are some other good ones. I edit often out of necessity. I'm good at it, and sometimes I like it, but I'd love to share the burden. I used to be a decent writer, but whatever I had in that regard is gone.

I HATE producing, it SUCKS!! I enjoy directing, Dp, and gaffing, Well, I guess I like to do special effects makeup work too. But I typically do all my own films, so I do a little of everything else. I refuse to be a fluffer though. hehe

I don't really enjoy producing either, I do it mostly out of necessity. But I do enjoy the freedom and benefits it gives me (such as being able to choose my work, the people I work with and knowing nobody could take it away from me).

My main things are writing and directing.
I'm working on my shooting and editing skills since they're not that great, and I need to start learning audio.
