What resolution do Theaters projects at usually?

I just saw a digital projection at clearview cinemas and it looked pretty sharp. What resolution do theaters projects at usually?

Right now, 2k is the standard.

nice, and what format is the delivarable uncompressed 4:4:4?

[Erik Olson]

It depends on the infrastructure - items like the playback server play into what the projector displays. JPEG2000 (.jp2) is the current DCI format.

You can read (and, if you're an engineer, understand) the .jp2 whitepapers over at JPEG.org.

This is incredibly interesting to me, thank you.
