What Quicktime Codec For Red Footage?

Just shot a feature using the Red Camera and am now doing the offline on FCP. What Codec should I use to export a quicktime for the Internet (emailing, etc.)? It crashes FCP when exporting with the regular quicktime broadband export. Is there a codec I can use to at least export any quicktime, and maybe I can figure a way to shrink that afterwards?

I'd ask over on our sister site reduser.net. There's a lot of info to digest. Unlike the DVX or HVX the RED is quite a bit more complex and there a lot of workflow questions to answer along the way.

are you editing the quicktimes from the cam or did you transcode to prores or something?

either way fcp should be able to export to whatever format you want for the web. maybe try trashing your FCP prefs.

i edit using the quicktimes from the cam at 2k. then for the web i export h.264 quicktime. no issues...
