What prompts a post?

I had this curious thought. What prompts someone to post a reply? Obviously on a thread that has a video clip it is in response to the clip, but there are many threads that many just read and move on. But, what prompts someone to post? That is the question. The other question is, will anyone post a reply to this post? Good question.

Personally, it is whether you can add to the discussion. What prompts me to read a post is normally the title, the section it is posted, or who the most recent poster was (c'mon, admit it. If you see a title that says: "what's a mattebox" and Hudson is the most recent poster, you know you're getting a laugh).
