What program is best for...

guess you are getting that clicking sound in final cut? I have cubase sl2. I throw those files in then export them out as aiff's. Possibly soundtrack will work. Try opening in soundtrack then exporting back out as aiff.

If you open itunes and go:

Itunes -> preferences -> import -> use the pull down menu to AIFF -> control click on the mp3 in itunes, and select convert to AIff

Ditto on itunes, works very good. However, I have never done wav files this way, should be the same.

You can also bring it into imovie and export out as a 48khz uncompressed .mov file that will only contain audio. Then import it into FCP. Thats what I do and it works every time.

iTunes will do the job, but QuickTime 7 Pro (or 6 Pro for that matter) may give you more options. And if you're in a deluxe mood, there's SoundTrack Pro - no end to the fun you could have there...

I second QTPro. The only time I could think of that I would want to use iTunes (and I'm really not bashing it, I just prefer QTpro) would be if I was doing a massive batch. Seems like iTunes would be good at doing a few hundred tracks without much user input.
Peace,

-Harry
