What motor to use for static-to-vibrating conversion

I am thinking of possibly converting a static adapter to a vibrating adapter. The static adapter has the ground glass already mounted to short rubber shafts, so all I need to do is attach a small motor, and work out the best speed to run it at.

Does anyone have suggestions as to what type of motor to use, and where to get it? My guess is that a cell phone motor might be too strong (since if it can bounce a phone around on a table, that might cause problems with the adaptor)? I remember seeing a photo somewhere of an adaptor that had a long straight motor with a small dab of glue on the end which was what caused it to vibrate.

Thanks!
