what lighting should I use

What is the best lightkit I can buy for under $500? I am starting a project for fun shooting a reality TV show. It will mostly be shot indoors. I am shooting with a Sony HDR-FX1 camcorder. How many lights should I use?

Will I be able to use my video lights for photo shoots? I am also going to be shooting some glamorous pictures and I want to make sure it will look professional.

don't worry about a kit, no law says all your lights have to be the same brand.

ebay is your answer, get a couple moles, some 800s or 1ks, and then get youself a nice 1k soft light.

from there just start building up, nok lights, redheads, other fresnels, mickymoles, for 500 bucks you can get 4 or 5 great lights,

if you buy a new kit, you might get 3 mid grade (lowel) lights,


to my mind, no light in the world matches a mole, not even arri, and moles can be had for 100 bucks a pop on ebay, if you wait for the deals.
