- also I have no idea if this is strobe or continuous, more than likely it could be strobe

That's a Briese parabolic light. Originally used by stills photographers, now making their ways into fashion and music videos, with HMIs in them.

It's a fun light.... Bron Color were the first to make them I think. Regardless of brand they are an amazing light. You pretty much can't do bad lighting with them.... even on small things like a coin. The light just wraps around...
Ofcourse they tend to be pretty big as well. The largest Bron makes is 2 meters wide haha We have the smaller version at one of our studios.
