What lens(es) were used?

Hi,

I have a 50mm lens that covers most of the shots I like, but I wanted a wide (super wide?) lens that could create a sort of dramatic effect when focused up close on a face. I really wanted the Nikkor 28 2.8 AIS but I don't know if it's enough to create the effect I want. Here are two examples:

I think the first is probably a fish eye but the second one is not. Wich lenses would you say were used to take these shots?

Thanks

Do you think the second image is also a fisheye? I don't see any barrel distortion, that's why I just thought it was an ultra wide. What I love about it is the way it distorts the face when focused up close.

I think it is. Not an extreme fisheye maybe something like an 8mm. You dont see barell distortion as much with something like an 8x.

Thanks! I don't know much about fisheyes, so I'll risk asking even if I sound stupid. I only know about focal lenghts, I really don't understand about fisheyes, what is a 8x in terms of focal length? 20mm? I'm asking this because I want to buy a prime lens to get this kind of shots and I wanted to choose the focal length. By the way, I'm using a Canon XH A1s with a SGBlade.

ah sorry. I meant 8mm. david lynch shot that film on a sony vx2000 so I figured he used a .3x century fisheye.

Will a 8mm lens on my rig (A1 + Blade) have the same effect or is the multiplicative factor different? I was thinking in buying a 20 or 28mm, do you think I need a wider lens?

You probably cant go below an 18mm since its harder for the adapter to focus on wide angles. I would try it with anything from 20-24. However. At this point I would just experiment with the camera stock.
