What kind of website do you have for your production company/reel?

Hi!

I am redoing my website for my production company/reel - does it make a difference even maintaining such a thing in this day and age?
What should you have and not have on it?

make sure you hire competent web developer and make sure you keep the site clean, simple, and to the point... few people in my circle had some websites done for them recently and paid a lot of money for them - none were satisfied. make sure w/e you go with can be maintained by you rather then having to go back to the developer for changes.

as far as content goes, have a clean portfolio section with you body of work with contact info... not much else is needed. a services page can be nice as long as its kept very general.

Flash is hard to get done right at prices lower then $10-20k, so it might help to go with a wordpress platform instead.

You can check out mine for ideas if you like.

It's not flash, just keyed out and exported at alpha channel.

Nice Adobe ad... it actually matches the layout of your site. If I were to put adsense on my site it just wouldn't work.

heh ... google chooses the ads, I have no control. Its only recently that i moved my portfolio into a blog. Thanks for checking it out

My site is flash. Personally, I dig flash sites...as long as they are simplistic.

The "KISS" method bit should be especially applied to creative websites IMO.

I just use carbonmade.com

It's really great for what I want, which is just a simple, no frills site that contains some of my photography, a reel, and a little about me.

The only thing I don't like is how they compress photos and videos, it's a bit of a pain in the butt getting things to look right.

i am just coding mine from scratch and making it simple.
i just wanted to know the reason for like all the extra stuff and if that stuff is helpful like blogs and forums and posting projects that didnt start yet and old stuff and social media links galore and ads and family photos and instant messenger and flash videos
