There are strip lights that sit in frosted tubes to soften the light, like Fluorescents.

I looked and the lights don't actually change in the vid. Bhphoto told me they probably used fluorescents in Rosco fluorescenet sleeves.
Do you have any ideas for anything like this that are portable and durable. I want to stay away from glass if possible.
Led tube lights would be cool. Then I could buy the Rosco sleeves. They are polycarbonate and it mentions the extra strength. I want as simple of a setup as possible. A tube that's the same size as a t5 or a t8 where I can slide the Rosco sleeve right on it with a 12v in so I can plug a portable battery right in it would be ideal.
