What if I buy this kind of softbank, what kind of light I need inside it? Will almost any kind of powerful light do the job, or does it have to be some kind of special light? Sorry, if this is a stupid question, I'm just staring out with these...:cheesy:
For a softbox, you need an open face light--the simpler, the better. I use a Lowell Tota Light, but I had to buy a fairly expensive speedring to adapt it to a softbox. A much better solution is a dedicated softbox fixture like the Wescott Spiderlite. The Spiderlite doesn't require a separate speedring and it also orients the globe in the best position for even lighting. Plus, it's reasonably priced.
You can also buy an open-faced light like an Arrilite and buy an appropriate speedring. A fresnel is also suitable for softbox use--again you need to get the proper speedring.
How interchangeable are other light manufacturers with Chimera. For instance if I had a softbox from Chimera would I be able to use it with a Photoflex of Westcott product? Are the mounting methods that much different? Could I fit a Chimera softbox into say a Westcott speedring?
